Long Range Fuel Tanks

Our range of long range and auxiliary fuel tank range is an engineered solution for being able to travel further with less fuel stops. They are designed to give maxmimum fuel capacity without affecting ground clearance and ramp over/departer angle, whilst being exceptionally strong against the most rigorous of conditions. Our range and auxiliary tanks allow you to get to the most remote parts of the globe where standard tank wouldn't take you, or as a tradesman get to that extra jobsite without constantly needing to stop for fuel.

All of our long range and auxiliary tanks are contstructed from high grade 2mm (14 gauge) Aluminium coated cold rolled steel to ensure maximum strength and durability. This gauge of steel is sufficiently resistant to damage by impact, and therefore additional tank guards are not necessary (most standard tanks are less than 2mm in material thickness). This material is specifically produced for us and is based on critical specifications given to the manufactuer of the material in Japan. Unlike aluminium, steel is not prone to fatigue from vibration and twisting as seen in off road conditions, and this fatigue resistance far outweighs any weight advantage aluminium may offer. However, the aluminium coating on the specific steel used by us offer's the strength of steel with the anti corrosion properties of aluminium. All tanks are MIG welded to ensure the strongest possible seams.

Our long range and auxiliary tanks are arguably the most thoroughly engineered long range and auxiliary tank on the market. Design elements include internal tank baffles to prevent fuel surge during unstable terrain, double skinned faces behind mounting bracket surfaces, and magnetic drain plugs fitted horizontally to prevent tank damage in the event of the tank coming into contact with terrain beneath the vehicle, just to name a few.

FUEL TANK DESIGN FEATURES
All our fuel tanks incorporate several unique and important engineering design features combining to deliver a superior product. Through years of research and development and stringent testing, We have been able to raise the bar in Long Range and Auxiliary Fuel Tank design and manufacture.

INTERNAL TANK BAFFLES
When travelling through uneven and rugged terrain, or cornering with a heavy load, the fuel inside a tank will slosh from side to side. This can cause potential fuel delivery problems in a tank running mid-low volume if the fuel is able to travel away from the pick up area. We tackle this issue head on by strategically welding internal baffle's inside the tank which act as barriers to prevent fuel movement inside the tank.

FUEL SWIRL POT
Working in harmony with the internal baffle system in each tank, a fuel swirl pot is fixed in place surrounding the fuel pick up inside the tank. This ensures that fuel is always available even during excessive vehicle body movement which would otherwise push fuel away from the pickup, potentially causing air to enter the system and even lead to the engine leaning out should it starve delivery enough to do so.

RIGHT ANGLE CORNER SUPPORT
Structurally a lot of strain is placed on 90 degree right angle intersections, and can be a point of failure under heavy impact or structural twist. For this reason from day one, We have developed an ingenious way to strengthen both the join and surround material to ensure rigid strength at all 90 degree folded join intersections.

MOUNTING BRACKET SUPPORT
When fully ladened with fuel, and factoring that 1ltr of fuel is approximately 0.75kg in weight, a long range tank bares a lot of weight on critical mount points. It is for this reason that we weld in a second skin to increase thickness and strength at the areas of mounting brackets. This ensures that even under the harhest driving conditions, fatigue will not cause a tank to fail at the mounts leaving you stranded in the outback.

MAGNETIC DRAIN PLUG
Sometimes fuel contains small contaminants, or over time foreign metalic particles can enter the tank in various ways. As such, a magnetic drain plug using extremely strong rare earth magnet is used catch these particles, allowing for easy tank maintenance and preventing the particles from travelling through the fuel system.

SUBMERGE PRESSURE TESTING
Each and every tank is thoroughly tested for leaks prior to final painting and packing. Under a calculated amount of pressure, the tank is fully submerged in water to indicate any possible leaks and ensure every tank is perfectly sealed.
